Wilcoxson Looks for First IWGA Win

Aug 1, 2015

Anna Wilcoxson of South Bend, Ind. fired a 5-under-par, 67 today to grab the lead at the IWGA Championship at Otter Creek GC.  Wilcoxson currently leads by two shots over Abbie Carlsen of Lafayette.

“I played really consistently today,” Wilcoxson said.  “I was hitting the ball really straight and I made a lot of birdies.  I tried to stay relaxed and positive out there.”

Wilcoxson carded six birdies today coming on holes 9, 11, 13, 14, 17 and 18.  Her lone bogey of the day came on the par-4, 16th.

Wilcoxson is a rising junior at Western Michigan University and a member of the Women’s Golf Team.  She looks for her first IWGA win tomorrow.

“It would mean the world to me to win this event,” Wilcoxson said.  “It’s very difficult to win an event like this with such a good field.  It would be a huge honor.”

Julia Potter is currently in third after posting a 2-under-par, 70.
