About the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association

All About the IHSGCA

The birth of the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association began in October of 1969 at the club house of Sarah Shank Golf Course in Indianapolis. The reason for the meeting and where it would take place was by word of mouth during the 1969 season.

The purpose of the IHSCGA was and still is, “to promote high school golf” throughout the state of Indiana. This purpose was to be achieved by: (a) better communications among coaches within Indiana; (b) better publicity from the news media; and (c) assisting the IHSAA in implementing the IHSAA tournaments.
