George Wamsley, Monterey, and Dave Williamson, Crawfordsville, took the lead today at the IGA Senior Team Championship at Delaware CC. The duo carded an impressive 6-under-par, 64 to take a two shot lead over Skip Runnels, Richmond, and Terry Werner, Dyer.
“We shot 29 on the front nine and made some good up-and-down par saves today,” Williamson said. “We’ve been friends for a long time and really enjoy playing together.”
Wamsley and Williamson birdied holes 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 15. Their only bogey today came on the par-4, 12th.
Werner and Runnels fired a 4-under-par, 66 today and are just two shots back.
“We were never out of any hole today as a team,” Werner said. “We got off to a little bit of a slow start, but made our first birdie of the day on the par-4, 3rd and things started clicking from then on. We complement each other’s games well and we seem to be peaking at the right time.”
There is currently a four-way tie for third, making for a crowded leaderboard heading into tomorrow’s final round.
