Teammates and long-time friends Dave Vlasic, Valparaiso, and Cortie Wilson, Portage, fired a best ball total of 5-under-par, 65 today at Ulen CC during the opening round of the IGA Senior Team Championship. The duo leads the pack by two shots.
“I played very well today,” Vlasic said. “Cortie also made a clutch birdie on 8 to keep us in the mix. It was a good day overall. We ham-and-egg well!”
Vlasic and Wilson carded seven birdies today coming on holes 3, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 18. They are looking for their second win in this event, with a previous win coming in 2014 at Maple Creek CC.
Currently tied for second are teammates Jim Anthony and Chuck Wenning, both residents of Franklin, and Steve Norris, Carmel, and Tom Perry, Indianapolis. Both teams posted best ball scores of 3-under-par, 67. They trail by two.
Tee times begin tomorrow morning at 8:30.
