Timothy Wiseman is Now a Back to Back Indiana PGA Professional Champion

Aug 29, 2023

Last year Timothy Wiseman captured his very first PGA Professional Championship win on his first attempt and after an impressive 8-under par finish today, he is now a 2x Champion.

Wiseman of Old Capital GC walked onto the first tee today at The Club at Holliday Farms sitting in first at 4-under, with a two stroke lead over Gary Robison of Crooked Stick GC. Vince Drahman of Old Oakland GC was quick on Robison’s heels and sat one stroke behind him going into the final round.

Wiseman didn’t seem to run into too many obstacles throughout both days of the competition, remaining bogey free on the first day and limiting himself to two bogeys in today’s round on holes fifteen and eighteen.

“A lot of the holes fit my eye for whatever reason. I think there were just a lot of good holes out here and the greens seemed to really mesh with what I was seeing. I was able to just pick good spots and be conservative a lot of the time and then aggressive when I had to be. I just love the course.”

Wiseman added “I didn’t drive it as well as I normally do but my approach to the green was huge this week. It seemed that anytime I put myself into a position to be aggressive, I was able to do that and hit it pretty close. I ironed it really well today.”

Wiseman received his Class A status in April of 2023 and with winning last year’s Section Championship, qualified to play in the national event where he had an impressive T27 finish. Wiseman will once again advance into the national championship in May of next year.

“It’s always cool to defend something that you have won in the past and I didn’t feel like I had a target on my back, but maybe I did because I won it last year. To be in that situation and be able to execute and go do it again is pretty special” said Wiseman.

Next up on Wiseman’s lineup is the Indiana Pro Amateur next week and the first stage of Q-school in October.

Wiseman had quite the lead today but the fight for second was a close battle that ended with Drahman and Craig Isabel of Stonehenge Golf claiming the runner-up spot.

“Today was definitely a grind. I didn’t feel like I drove it very well but the course is awesome and it’s a really tough test. Playing from the rough, bunkers, and all the bad spots off the tees made it a really tough day” said Drahman.

Joining Wiseman at the National Championship in May of 2024 will be Drahman, Isabel, and Jamie Broce of IUPUI Athletics.
