Timothy Wiseman Captures First PGA Title

Aug 4, 2020

After two intense days of championship golf, the 2020 Indiana PGA Assistant Professional Championship is officially complete. Old Capital Golf Club’s Timothy Wiseman captured his first professional title this afternoon at Stonehenge Golf Club, carding an even-par, 71 today.

“This is my first professional win,” Wiseman said. “I feel like it’s been a long time coming for me.  I was pretty close at the Indiana Open and have been close a couple other times, so to pull through, finally, felt really good.”

Wiseman fired a 4-under-par, 67 during the first round of the event to put himself in the lead by two strokes over Craig Isabel of Stonehenge Golf Club. With only a two-stroke lead, Wiseman knew he had to play strong and not let his guard down in the final round.

“I had a solid day yesterday and just tried to keep those same swing thoughts and same mentality going into today.  I knew it would tough having a two-shot lead with kind of a target on my back, but I was able to handle it well and it was good enough to get the job done.”

The final round of the event was a battle to say the least. After carding one birdie and one bogey on his opening nine holes, Wiseman made the turn with still a two-shot lead at 4-under-par over Isabel.

Isabel came out strong with his third birdie of the day on the par-4, 10th, but Wiseman regained the two-stroke lead with a birdie on the par-5, 11th. The remainder of Wiseman’s back nine consisted of another birdie and two bogeys, for a final round score of even-par, 71.

“I made some key putts today and had some really nice par saves. My putter bailed me out a few times today.”

Wiseman held the lead until Isabel made two birdies on holes 16 and 17, forcing a playoff – which both players finishing at 4-under-par, 138. Wiseman and Isabel began the playoff on the par-5, 18thboth focused and ready to win. With a tremendous birdie on 18, Wiseman took home his first professional victory.

Craig Isabel, Vince Drahman and Carson Watternbarger will join Wiseman in the National Assistant's Championship at the Wanamaker Course in Port St. Luice, Fla. November 12-15. Brittany Kelly will also be participating, after gaining an exemption for participating in the Inaugural Women's PGA Cup.
