Michelle Smith (Fort Wayne), Nina Whalen (Indianapolis), and
Tobi Herron (Columbus) represented Indiana at the USGA Women’s State Team
Championship at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio Sept. 17-19. Team Indiana finished 25th in the
national event after firing a three day total of 479, counting the aggregate
total of the two best scores per day.
“Team
Indiana played exceptional the first two days and we were hoping to continue
the hot play into our third round,” Herron said. “Unfortunately some bad ball striking and
lack of focus caught up with us and we posted our highest 3 day total on the
last day. We were sitting at a record performance for our state after 2 days so
it was tough to not get it across the goal line and finish strong.”
