PUMA Hoosier Junior Info Released

Jul 13, 2009

The 2009 PUMA Hoosier Junior Championship will be held October 17-18 at Otter Creek GC in Columbus. Registration for the Championship will open on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 8:00 am. The entry process for this year’s event will be slightly different than other Indiana Golf Foundation events, with spots reserved for exempt players and non-Indiana residents and tiered registration dates for all others. “With a successful first year, we really want to continue to make this a top-level event here in Indiana” said Ryan Lambert, the Foundation’s Junior Golf Director. “We are going to do whatever we can to get our best players involved as well as gain more out of state interest in the event.”

The new registration system gives players automatic spots in the field based on their previous year’s finish as well as their performance in top Indiana junior events. Exempt players will have until September 25th to enter and claim their reserved spot in the event. As for the non-Indiana players, they have been given 20 reserved spots in the event to be given on a first come/ first serve basis. Those spots will be held until September 18th, when they will be released for general registration.

Players who do not meet any qualifications for the reserved spots, may register based on their Pepsi Indiana Junior Golf Program status. Any player that is eligible for the 2009 Diet Pepsi Masters Tour or has met an automatic invitation requirement for the 2010 Masters Tour may register beginning August 10, 2009 at 8:00 am.

General registration for all other players will open on August 24 at 8:00 am.

The PUMA Hoosier Junior Championship is limited to 120 players with a field of 80 boys and 40 girls.
