Its Slope Rating is 139.
ARCHITECT
Opened in 2002, Dalhousie Golf Club’s course was designed by Nicklaus Design, with
Gary Nicklaus as the principal architect. The course occupies land originally settled in 1798 by
Scottish immigrant Rebecca Ramsey, sister of the Earl of Dalhousie.
WHO CAN ENTER
All states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico may enter teams of three players. The only
players ineligible to participate are those currently on a college team, per NCAA rules.
SCHEDULE
Fifty-four holes of stroke play are scheduled for Sept. 10-12 with the two lowest scores of the
three individual rounds counting as the team’s score for the round. The team with the lowest
aggregate score through all 54 holes is the champion. If there is a tie after the final round,
the score from the team’s non-scoring player is used to break the deadlock. If the score
remains tied, the second-round score from the non-scoring player is used.
Sept. 10 (Thursday) – First round, 18 holes of stroke play
Sept. 11 (Friday) – Second round, 18 holes of stroke play
Sept. 12 (Saturday) – Third round, 18 holes of stroke play
THE TROPHY
The USGA Women’s State Team Championship began in 1995. In 1998, the trophy was
named the Judy Bell Trophy in honor of the USGA’s first female president, Judy Bell,
who served from 1996-97.
2013 CHAMPION
Led by 17-year-old Alice Chen, New Jersey captured a three-stroke victory over Florida
in the 2013 USGA Women’s State Team Championship contested at NCR Country Club’s
South Course in Kettering, Ohio. Chen, along with reinstated amateur and team captain
Tara Fleming, 46, of Jersey City and Cindy Ha, 17, of Demarest, posted a 54-hole
total of 8-over-par 446 in the 3-count-2 team format.
This was New Jersey’s first USGA Women’s State Team victory, topping a
previous best of seventh in 2011.
A Princeton native, Chen shared medalist honors with fellow 17-year-old Bryana
Nguyen, of Columbia, Md. Their 6-under 213s tie the low mark held by Brenda
Corrie Kuehn of North Carolina (1997), Marla Jemsek-Weeks of Florida (1997) and

HISTORY
This is the 11th USGA Women’s State Team Championship. The competition, as well as
the Men’s State Team Championship, grew out of the USGA’s centennial celebration in 1995.
USGA officials believed a new championship, one in which each state could be represented
by amateur, non-college golfers, was an appropriate way to cap the USGA’s yearlong birthday
celebration. Deemed a success, the USGA has continued to conduct the championship biennially.
The format was fashioned after the biennial World Amateur Team Championship, which
involves three-person teams in a 3-count-2 stroke-play format. State associations were given
a variety of options in which to select its team members. The inaugural Women’s State Team
Championship drew teams from 43 states. In 2013, a record 52 teams representing all 50 states,
the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, participated at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
In 2010, the USGA decided to alternate years for the Men’s and Women’s State
Team Championship,with the men playing in even-numbered years and the women in odd years.

THE USGA AT DALHOUSIE GOLF CLUB
While this will be the first USGA championship conducted at Dalhousie Golf Club, it has
hosted the 2012 Missouri State Amateur Championship and 2009 AJGA Rolex Tournament
of Champions.
MISSOURI AND THE USGA
This will be the 19th USGA championship held in the Show-Me State, dating to the 1921 U.S.
Amateur at St. Louis Country Club. The most recent USGA event conducted in Missouri was
the 2014 Curtis Cup Match at St. Louis Country Club. While this will be the first time the
USGA Women’s State Team will be contested in the state, Missouri hosted the 2009 USGA
Men’s State Team, won by Pennsylvania, at the Country Club of St. Albans in suburban
St. Louis. Missouri will also host the 2016 U.S. Senior Amateur at Old Warson Country
Club in St. Louis and 2017 U.S. Girls’ Junior at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta.
