O’Toole Claims Northern Open Title for Third Top Five Finish of the Year

Jun 11, 2012

Culver, Ind.-
“I putted well for a change,” said Mike O’Toole, a PGA Professional at Riverside Golf Club, after firing an untouchable 66 today at the Indiana PGA Northern Open at Mystic Hills Golf Course. O’Toole teed off in the morning wave, finishing almost five hours before the afternoon groups. With wind picking up as the day progressed, O’Toole’s five-under par 66, held at the top of the leader board.

This win marks the third top five finish for O’Toole this year, with a second place finish at the Indiana PGA Indianapolis Open, and a fourth place finish at the Indiana PGA Pro-Am.
With Mystic Hill’s severe greens, it was imperative to keep approach shots below the hole. O’Toole said, “I kept the ball in good areas on the greens, where I knew I could be aggressive with my putts.”
With six birdies today, O’Toole defeated a field of 117 players, both professionals and amateurs, from all around Indiana.

There was a three-way tie for second at 68, including: Preston Smith, an amateur from Fortville, PGA Professional Brian Brodell, Birck Boilemaker Golf Complex, and Andrew Eiler, an amateur from Rochester.
