Randy Nichols may well be on his way to winning his fifth
Tournament of Champions since 1982. That is, if he can hold off 2008 State
Amateur runner-up Joe Mahurin. Both Nichols, former ToC winner, and Mahurin,
club champion from Prairie View, fired 2-under-par 69 Friday on Fox Prairie’s
original course to share the lead over the field of 87 Indiana club champions. Just
behind them is Crawfordsville Municipal club champion Dave Williamson, only one
shot back at 70.
