New Tournament Record Set at Hoosier Junior

Oct 17, 2010

It was a great ending to a great season. Andrew Fogg of
Greenwood set a new tournament record of 65-72=137 October 17 and won the
Hoosier Junior Championship at Otter Creek GC. This is after a successful summer
that included winning a Boys State Junior Championship qualifier, qualifying
for the US Junior and advancing to the Round of 32 in match play, and finishing
in the top-5 at three AJGA events.

Fogg has one more spring high school season with Roncalli to
look forward to before heading to Bloomington. He committed to Indiana
University for the 2011-2012 season.

2010 Boys State Junior champion Colin Proctor of Anderson carded
the lowest round of the day and finished as runner-up with 74-69=143. McCormick
Clouser took third place with 73-73=146.

In the girls’ division, 2010 IHSAA Girls State Finals
individual champion Natalie Schmett of Evansville took the championship with
76-79=155. She committed to Jacksonville University for next fall. Rachel
Welker of Terre Haute placed second with 76-80=156, but had a chance to tie it
up and force a playoff at the 18th. But a lipped-out putt closed out
the tournament. Welker also had success at the IHSAA State Finals, where she
placed 6th, and she won five Mountain Dew Tour events in her 15-16
age division this past summer.
