Luke Prall Wins 2019 Indiana Boys Jr PGA Championship

Jun 27, 2019

Despite an unprecedented 10 on the 18th hole at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind., Luke Prall won the 2019 Indiana Boys Jr. PGA Championship with a two-round total of 6-under-par defeating Peyton Snoeberger by two shots.

With water down the left side on 18, Prall, Carmel, found the water with his first three drives before finding the fairway with his seventh shot. From there Prall went on to make a 10 turning his 8-shot lead into a 2-shot victory.

“My miss all tournament had been that low hook,” Prall said. “I hit it three or four times during the first round. I knew eventually I’d figure it out and once I got it into the fairway I just took the same approach I had all tournament.”

The first 35 holes of Prall’s tournament were almost mistake free. He had just two bogeys and led the field with 14 birdies. In both rounds, Prall had stretches of two straight and three straight birdies thanks to his great putting throughout the tournament.

“For sure putting was the best part of my game,” Prall said. “I got a putting lesson on Tuesday and it really helped. I made about 130 feet of putts in the first round.”

The success on the greens carried into day two as Prall had six more birdies and no three putts during his second round.

After a round one 65, Prall took a two-shot advantage into the final round over Peyton Snoeberger, Williamsport, who fired an opening round 67. Snoeberger got off to a quick start in round two after birdies at the first and third holes to claim a share of the lead.

Prall answered with three straight birdies on the following three holes and took a four-shot lead into the back nine which grew to eight through 17 holes.

With a second-place finish, Snoeberger will join Prall at the Junior PGA National Championship which will be held at Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor, Connecticut July 30 – Aug. 2.

Nels Surtani and Kash Bellar finished in third and fourth individually with a group of four golfers finishing in a tie for fifth.
