Nov 17, 2015

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2015) –  Todd Smith, PGA Golf Professional at Rock Hollow Golf Club, in Peru, Indiana, has joined the PGA Board of Directors as District 6 Director. He was elected to the Board of Directors today at the 99th PGA Annual Meeting in Palm Beach Gardens, and will serve a three-year term, representing the Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin PGA Sections.

A PGA Member since 1989, Smith has served on the Indiana PGA Board of Directors from 1990-1994; was president of the Indiana PGA Section from 1999-2000; and was named Indiana Golf Professional of the Year in 2000. A nine-time Indiana PGA Player of the Year and six-time Indiana PGA Champion, Smith was inducted into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame in 2004, and was the recipient of the 2014 Section Bill Strausbaugh Award.

“I have been in this profession for 27 years and to be able to represent my fellow members in any fashion, to serve as their voice or advocate, is an honor and opportunity that I never thought I would have,” said Smith. “I am so pleased to help the PGA of America and its mission to get more people involved in, and having fun with, golf. That’s what hooked me on the game when I was young, and it has never wavered.”

A native of Rochester, Indiana, Smith was named the 1980 IHSAA Boys’ State Golf Champion, 1981 National High School Champion and was All-Southeastern Conference at Auburn University. Smith has played in five PGA Championships, making the cut twice; was the 1993 and 2000 Indiana Open Champion; and played in the 1994 PGA Cup.

He began his career as an assistant golf professional at The Hoosier Links in 1987, served as PGA Head Golf Professional at Honeywell Golf Course from 1990-’92, and has been employed at Rock Hollow Golf Club since 1993.
Smith and his wife, Claire, have two children, Brad and Erin; a daughter-in-law, Carmen; and two grandchildren, Scarlett and Linden.

The PGA Board of Directors is composed of the Association’s president, vice president, secretary, honorary president, and 17 directors. The directors include representatives from each of the PGA’s 14 districts, two Independent Directors and a member of the PGA Tour.

New District Directors are elected by their local PGA Sections.
