For the past two years, Jack Barber, PGA Head Professional at Meridian Hills Country Club, has led the Indiana Section PGA through tough economic times as the Section President. During his reign he was honored as the National PGA Professional of the Year for his leadership and dedication to the game. At the October 25-26 Indiana PGA Fall Business Meeting in Indianapolis, Tim Frazier, PGA Head Professional at Sycamore Hills Golf Club, moved up from his post as Vice President and assumed the role of President to lead Indiana through the next two years. Todd Firestone of Fort Wayne Country Club moved up to Vice President, and Keith Clark of Hickory Stick Golf Club took on the Secretary position.
Frazier’s first speech as President included an introduction of himself as well as an optimistic recap of the highlights from 2010 for golf in the state – such as hosting two national PGA championships, including the Junior PGA at his home club, Evansville’s Jeff Overton and Richmond’s Bo Van Pelt’s successes on tour, and Amanda Blumenherst’s rookie success on the LPGA tour.
Three board positions opened this fall as well, and all three current board members whose terms were up ran and were re-elected: Chad Cockerham of Otter Creek Golf Course, Mark Mattingly and Nick Marucci of Tippecanoe Lake Golf Club. Tony Pancake of Crooked Stick Golf Club also joined the Board of Directors.
