Even though he wasn’t the picture of consistency, Brownburg’s
Seth Fair was able to gain a one shot lead over Kyle Cox of Fishers during the
opening round of the Indiana Open Championship held at the Hawthorns G &
CC. Fair started off the day with what
he called a “careless” bogey on the par 4, 10th hole, but bounced
back on the par 5, 11th with an eagle, 3.
“I started off the day with a couple of careless swings,”
Fair said. “After bogeying my first hole
of the day, number 10, I was able to bounce back and eagle 11. I also birdied 12 and 13 which put me back
into a good position.”
Fair’s back-and-forth round consisted of seven birdies
coming on holes 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, and 13, an eagle on 11, and four bogeys on
holes 1, 2, 10, and 18.
“I drove the ball well all day and hit quality iron
shots,” Fair said. “I made a few loose
swings during the middle of my round that led to some bogeys, but overall I played
well. I hope to do more of the same
