Carich Gets First Win

Aug 31, 2009

A pitching lesson from runner-up Jamie Broce of Indiana University (69) may have given
champion Dave Carich of The Bridgewater Club (68) the edge that allowed him to take the win at the final PGA
Pepsi Club Car Tournament Series. On August 31, Prairie View GC in Carmel
welcomed Indiana PGA Professionals for the final of three stroke play events.
Pitching was a problem area of his game all season, but he finally figured it
out with the help of his fellow-competitor and teacher John Dunham. “We finally
figured it out and it paid off,” said Carich. “That helped a lot today.” Aside
from his pitching, his putting helped him make three consecutive birdies on the
back side. At the 13th hole he made a 30-foot putt to get the streak going and
followed it up with two more one-putts. This was Carich’s first win of the season.
“With this field, I am happy to get a win,” he said.

Dean Prange of Hillcrest CC and Ivan Foster of Bridgewater GC also finished tied for the runner-up position at 69.
