Carich and Werkley Lead at Miller Golf Sales PGA Team Championship

Sep 12, 2013

Dave Carich of The Bridgewater Club and partner Justin
Werkley of Harbour Tree GC are the first round leaders at The Miller Golf Sales
PGA Team Championship held at Long Beach CC in Michigan City. Carich and Werkley carded a team best ball of
7-under-par 65, which was enough for a one shot lead over teammates Jeff Marsh
of Deer Track GC and Rob Knuckles of Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Carich and Werkley had a bogey free round this afternoon
with seven birdies coming on the par 5, 1st, the par 3, 5th,
the par 5, 6th, the par 4, 12th, the par 5, 14th,
the par 3, 16th, and the par 5, 18th.

This has been an outstanding tournament season for Carich,
who qualified for the US Senior Open earlier this summer and recently qualified
for both The 2014 PGA Professional National Championship and The 2013 Senior
PGA Professional National Championship.
This would be his third win of the season, with previous wins coming at
the Indiana PGA Pro-Assistant and the Indiana PGA Senior Championship. Carich has also had four runner-up finishes
in 2013.

There are currently two teams in a tie for third including
Chris Clemens of Winding River GC and his partner Fred Mattingly of Dicks
Sporting Goods and Jon Balyeat of Sycamore Hills GC and his partner Hartley
McLeod of Donald Ross GC.
