Indianapolis, IN – The IGA Mid-Am Team Championship at The Country Club of Indianapolis showcased the talents of amateur golfers from across the state in a fun yet competitive format. This year’s competition was hosted April 14 to 15.

The highlight of the tournament was the performance of Paul and Rob Johnson who stayed low and remained leaders throughout round-two’s play. The Johnson team showed their impressive sibling teamwork and skill, clenching their victory with a three-shot lead.

The team scramble format provides players with an opportunity to showcase their collaborative skills and team strategy on the course.

Rob commented, “It’s hard to stay in rhythm when you’re in a scramble.”

The duo did not seem to struggle with their rhythm boasting a bogey-free second day.

Round one play coincided with Masters Sunday. Paul attended the tournament at Augusta National said, “I got back Saturday night late, but it worked out good. You know, we were able to watch with today’s technology, [Rob] had an iPad in the cart.”

Last year’s event took place at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana. However, unexpected snow on day two shortened the tournament to just one day. This year, players enjoyed sunny skies and temperatures reaching 80 degrees, providing optimal conditions for the competition.

Looking ahead, the brothers Johnson plan on playing in more IGA events and other competitions this season. Specifically, Rob aims to play in the Senior US Open qualifier.

The Indiana Golf Association (IGA) is a leading organization dedicated to promoting and supporting amateur golf in Indiana. As one of 59 allied golf associations recognized by the USGA, the IGA administers various programs and championships, including the USGA handicap and course rating system.
