US Women’s Team

Apr 16, 2009

February 26, 2009 – Fort Wayne, Indiana – The Fort Wayne Sports Corporation announced today that they have partnered with Sycamore Hills Golf Club for the 2009 USGA Women’s State Team Championship, to be contested September 1-3.

The FWSC will help with marketing and media coverage of the championship, and will also assist in helping to secure over 300 volunteers needed.

“The Fort Wayne Sports Corporation is glad to provide whatever additional assistance we can, in making sure that this is a first-class championship for Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana,” said Sports Corporation President Art Saltsberg. “We expect the championship to have a tremendous economic impact for the Fort Wayne area, and great support from this community.”

The USGA Women’s State Team Championship grew out of the celebration of the USGA Centennial in 1995 and has been held every two years since. Each state is invited to send a team of three players. Arizona is the defending champion, having won the title in 2007. Admission, parking, and shuttle service to the championship is free.

The Fort Wayne Sports Corporation was founded with the mission of enhancing the quality of life and promoting community, through sports and fitness.

“Sycamore Hills has shown great community spirit in attracting this event, which will showcase some of the best amateur golfers competing for a national championship on one of the best golf courses in the country,” said Don Hunter, Sycamore Hills Golf Club General Manager. “We look forward to a successful partnership with the FWSC.”
