Team Indy 2 Advances to PGA Junior League National Championship Sept. 6, 7, & 8

Aug 21, 2013

After
winning the Indiana PGA Junior League City Golf Championships for the North and
South Divisions Team Indy 2 and Team Noblesville advanced to the Midwest
Regionals in Chicago, IL. Both teams won
their opening matches at Coghill G & CC in Chicago and faced one another in
round two. It was Team Indy 2 who came
out on top and advanced to the Regional Finals.

“We
had no idea what to expect,” said Jared Alexander, Coach of Team Indy 2. “Continuing on into unchartered waters has
almost felt unexpected somehow. But each
match we have breezed through brought our confidence to new heights.”

Team
Indy 2 went on to defeat Pine Meadows in the Regional Final Match and will
advance to the National Championship at TPC Sugarloaf in Atlanta, GA on
September 6, 7, and 8.

“It
means a lot to us that we get to represent our region, city, and local courses
at the National level,” Alexander said.
“I hope the kids will fully realize how unique this opportunity is. I feel like I’m almost more excited than
them. Either way it’s been a great
ride.”

Although Team Noblesville will not be advancing to
the National Championship, they did an excellent job representing Indiana at
Regionals.

“What made this event so special was knowing that
most of the kids would not get the opportunity to play in an event of that size
or scope on an individual basis,” said John Van Valer, Coach of Team
Noblesville. “We were only able to
experience such an event through being on a team.”

Congratulations again to both teams for making it to
Regionals and best of luck to Team Indy 2 at Nationals!

About
the PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League Golf (PGA JLG) is designed to
bring a “Little League” atmosphere to the game of golf. With teams of boys and
girls, ages 7 to 13 years old, PGA JLG provides a structured league environment
for young golfers to compete and have fun! PGA JLG features team vs. team
competitions in structured leagues that provide a popular, less stressful
scramble format as opposed to stroke-play competition. This is a great way to get, and keep, kids
involved in the game!

With the PGA Junior League Golf program rapidly
growing across the country, the Indiana Section PGA is very excited to be a
part of this initiative to growing the game. Over 50 facilities throughout the
state of Indiana have registered to host a team for the 2013 season. Please
