MUNCIE, Indiana (June 3-4, 2024) – Gary Robison of Crooked Stick Golf Club emerged victorious at the PGA Senior Open, held on June 3-4 at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana. Robison secured the win by three strokes, demonstrating consistent play throughout the tournament. The runner-up was amateur Andrew Sapp, who made an impressive hole-out on the 18th to clinch second place.
Reflecting on his performance, Robison shared insights into his game: “I’ve been hitting it pretty good, but I’ve had a little trouble getting it in the hole sometimes. I started out with a bogey on the first hole, but made a nice putt for birdie on the second. I had a lot of good chances and finally made a 25-foot putt on a par three, which really got things turned around for me.”
Despite some lost momentum on the back nine, Robison maintained a strong lead.
“I wasn’t watching the leaderboard until the 17th hole. I was just trying to play and stay focused,” he said.
Robison’s performance on the par threes was a highlight of his game.
“The par threes were good for me yesterday too. It felt great to execute well on those holes.”
Looking ahead, Robison plans to continue competing throughout the season.
“I’ll play in the State Open and some local events. I’ll be around,” he confirmed.
The PGA Senior Open at Delaware Country Club featured seasoned golfers showcasing their skills on a challenging course. Robison’s victory is a testament to his experience and perseverance in the sport.
