Potter-Bobb Looks for Second Indiana PGA Women’s Open Title

Jul 22, 2020

Eight-time Alice O’Neal Dye IWGA Player of the Year, Julia Potter-Bobb sits atop the leaderboard after round one of the 2020 Indiana PGA Women’s Open at the Rock Hollow Golf Club. Potter-Bobb carded a 1-under-par 71 to grab a two-shot lead over defending champion, Brittney Kelly of Woodland CC, Haylin Harris of Carmel, and Kristina Kniesly of Logansport.

“It’s definitely a big confidence booster leading after round one of this tournament,” said Potter-Bobb, 2016 Women’s Open Champion. “I started out the season pretty well winning the IWGA Indiana Championship down in Anderson. After that, I lost a lot of my focus and wasn’t playing the best.  I took a step back, refocused my game and mindset, and came out ready to play today.”

Potter-Bobb round consisted of three birdies today on holes 6, 12 and 13 and only two bogeys.

“I had a pretty solid day out on the course,” Potter-Bobb said. “I never lost focus, had a positive mindset, and hit the ball really well. I feel prepared and more confident for tomorrow’s round.”

Potter-Bobb’s two shot lead is strong, but the leaderboard remains crowded with several good players still in the hunt for the title.

“My plan for tomorrow is to focus on my own game and play to the best of my ability,” Potter-Bobb added. “No matter the outcome, I just want to make myself proud and have a positive outlook.”

Our lead group comprised of Potter-Bobb, Harris, and Kniesly will tee off tomorrow morning at 10:06 a.m.
