Play Golf America

Jun 4, 2009

Over 150 Hoosiers came to The Legends of Indiana GC in Franklin May 29 for a Play Golf America day. Players of all ages and ability levels participated in the free PGA of America initiative hosted by the Indiana Section and Ted Bishop, Secretary of the PGA of America and Director of Golf at The Legends. Area PGA Professionals were on site to give free 10-minute lessons, and equipment manufacturers Titleist, Cobra, Callaway, PING, TaylorMade, Nike, and Mizuno allowed attendees to demo equipment.

Anthony Gonzalez, Melvin Bullitt, Tim Jennings, Jamie Silva and Jim Sorgi of the Indianapolis Colts signed autographs and took part in the free lessons and club fittings as well. Sorgi also spoke to the Franklin Boys and Girls Club about ‘Being Prepared’ before the kids took group lessons from the PGA Professionals.

ESPN Radio 1070 The Fan broadcasted live from the event and provided entertainment for sports enthusiasts who came out to participate in the fun-filled day.

Other Play Golf America events are in the works for Summer and Fall 2009 in cooperation with the WNBA’s Indiana Fever and NBA’s Indiana Pacers. Stay tuned for details.
