Pancake Gets First Section Win

Jun 9, 2015

Tony Pancake of Crooked Stick GC came from behind to win his first ever Indiana PGA event, the Senior Open at Tippecanoe CC.  Pancake added a 3-under-par, 69 to yesterday’s 71 for a 36-hole total of 4-under-par, 140 and a two shot victory over John Dalcorobbo of Brickyard Crossing GC.

“This tournament really felt like it was meant to be,” said Pancake, Vice President of the Indiana Section PGA.  “I hit the ball really well and my putting was on both days.  It was one of those events where I felt like anytime I put myself in trouble, I got good breaks.”

It came down to the par-4, 18th where Pancake and Dalcorobbo saw themselves tied at 3-under-par.  Both players hit good approach shots, Pancake just slightly outside of Dalcorobbo.  Pancake putted first and converted his birdie, and Dalcorobbo went on to three-putt, finishing the tournament at 2-under-par.

“I knew we were tied going into 18 so I tried to relax and luckily hit every shot on both 17 and 18 the way I wanted to,” Pancake said.

This is Pancake’s first PGA win in 20
