Norris and Perry Win Senior Team by One

Apr 28, 2016

Steve Norris, Carmel, and Tom Perry, Indianapolis, fired a best ball score of 5-under-par, 65 at Ulen CC during the final round of the IGA Senior Team Championship.  The duo posted a 36-hole total of 8-under-par, 132 to grab their first win as a team in this event.

“We ham and egg it really well,” Perry said.  “Our games are pretty similar, but Tom has to be one of the top putters in the state right now,” added Norris.

Their round consisted of six birdies, with a string of four in a row on holes 13, 14, 15 and 16.

“We put our approach shots on 13 through 15 to about ten feet and made birdie from there,” Perry said.  “I made a forty footer on 16 as well, so it felt great to get four in a row.”

Perry won this event in 2008 with teammate Gus Spicuzza.  For Norris, this was his first win and he calls it ‘special.’

“Any time winning an IGA event is really special,” Norris said.  “There are great senior players in Indiana, so it is an accomplishment to win in a field of players like this.”

Dave Vlasic, Valparaiso, and Cortie Wilson, Portage, finished just one shot back at 7-under-par.
