Jozefowski Looks for First Indiana PGA Win

May 19, 2014

Jon Jozefowski cannot remember the last day he’s taken off
from his golf game, and his round today reflected that. Jozefowski shook up a crowded leaderboard late
this afternoon with a 4-under-par 66 at Highland G & CC during the first
round of the Indiana PGA Indianapolis Open presented by Sterling Cut Glass and
Advantage Golf. He heads to tomorrow’s
final round with a two-shot lead over the 2013 Indiana PGA Player of the Year,
Brett Melton of The Country Club of Old Vincennes, Rob Knuckles of Dick’s
Sporting Goods, Michael Asbell of The Sagamore GC, and Jon Balyeat of Sycamore
Hills GC.

“I hit a lot of greens today and when I missed, I was able
to get up-and-down,” said Jozefowski of Woodstock GC. “I took aggressive lines on my putts and that
really worked in my favor. Overall, it
was a pretty good day.”

Jozefowski’s round consisted of five birdies today coming on
the par-4, 1st, the par-5, 3rd, the par-3, 8th,
the par-4, 10th, and the par-5, 12th. He only carded one bogey today on the par-4,
14th.

“I have never won an Indiana PGA event before and it would
really mean a lot to me,” Jozefowski said.
“I have been working on my game every day and really trying to
improve. I am going to try to stick to
my game plan tomorrow, pick my target, swing aggressively, and hopefully
continue to make putts.”

Brian Brodell of Birck Boilermaker GC, Quinn Griffing of
Donald Ross GC, Andrew Havill of Carmel, and Dave Williamson of Crawfordsville are just four shots back, after
posting even par 70s today.
