Indiana Program Director Headed to The First Tee Academy

Jun 4, 2013

Juan Mitchell, Director of Programming for The First Tee of Indiana, was one of 24 coaches selected to lead The First Tee Academies 14th Annual Life Skills and Leadership Academy in San Diego, Calif., July 23-30.

Ninety six First Tee advanced students from across the United States will attend the premier week-long event that not only teaches golf but also focuses on life skills.

“I’m really excited to learn other chapters’ teaching strategies and bring new ideas to The First Tee of Indiana,” Mitchell said. “I also look forward to building relationships with leaders from other chapters. I feel honored to have been selected.”

Students attending the Academy will enjoy championship golf, life skills activities, and career exploration. Also on the agenda is a visit to the TaylorMade Adidas Golf Headquarters, a private tour of the TaylorMade test facility, a trip to the San Diego Zoo, and several soon to be announced special guests.

The purpose of the Academy is to create an experience rich in both golf and life skills learning. With the goal of improving the participants’ chances to compete at a higher level athletically and academically, the Academy also will stress The First Tee’s overarching concept that continuous learning is the foundation to becoming an elite PLAYer of the game of golf as well as life.
