Indiana Golf is Deeply Saddened by the Passing of PGA Professional, Brittany Kelly

Aug 31, 2021

Indiana Golf is deeply saddened by the passing of PGA Professional, Brittany Kelly, who lost her battle against cancer.  Brittany was recently awarded the 2022 Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year Award.

In addition to being the 2022 Section Professional of the Year, she was a former member of PGA LEAD, the Section Assistant of the Year in 2017 and a 3-time Indiana PGA Women’s Player of the Year.  That award will carry her name from here forward. She was the first female to win the Assistant of the Year and be named as the Section Golf Professional of the Year.

“BK was a great player but also a well-rounded PGA professional and most importantly a friend to so many. Her energy and enthusiasm for the game and for helping others was infectious”, said Indiana Golf Executive Director, Mike David.

She was a member of the Indiana PGA Board of Directors and was co-chair of the Associates Committee. She was committed to improving the communication to/and education of Associate professionals.

Brittany was a member of the inaugural Women’s PGA Cup Team and helped the United States secure a victory in 2019.  She will be inducted into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame in September.

Indiana Golf Assistant Executive Director, Autumn Strong, who was a teammate of BK’s both in high school and college said, "Brittany or "BK", as teammates refer to her, was one of the reasons I started playing golf more competitively, and if anyone could fire up your competitive spirit, it was her. BK's golf career speaks for itself but more importantly I found her outlook on life to be inspiring, especially as she battled her disease like a true competitor. Saying goodbye to a good friend like BK is hard but I take away how kind and caring she was, how much she cherished family and to not take a single day for granted."

Our thoughts go out to her parents, Ken and Joni, her sister Ashley Pogue, brother in law, Matt Pogue, and all of her family and friends.
