IGA & IWGA Champions Crowned Today at Rock Hollow

Jul 8, 2022

The 2022 Indiana Golf Association match play events at Rock Hollow Golf Club came to a conclusion on Friday with winners in each of the four divisions. The four divisions included the Super Senior division, Senior division, Men’s division and Women’s division.

After four days of qualifying and match play, Peter Swanson from Noblesville defeated Crolicli 2 up to win the 2022 Super Senior Match Play Division at Rock Hollow Golf Club.

“Winning today is great, I have three runner-up finishes in the Senior or Super Senior Match Play events and this is the first one that got over the hump,” said Swanson.

For the Senior division, Dave Turpin of Mt. Vernon defeated Mike Bell 3&2 after four days of qualifying and match play. Turpin alluded to the hard work he has put in on his game, and what winning his division at Rock Hollow meant to him.

“Coming down the stretch, it’s just about being patient,” said Turpin.  “This win means a lot, because I get to represent Southern Indiana, so it’s nice to get to take this trophy back south”

For the men’s and women’s divisions, the final day included a semi-final match as well as the final matches themselves to determine the 2022 champions. For the men’s division, Griffin Hare from Tipton defeated Kasey Lilly on the 18th hole after an intense final match to win 1 up.

“This win means everything,” said Hare. “Man, I haven’t won a golf tournament in a long time and match play is such a fun format so being able to win is awesome.”

The women’s match also came down to the 18th hole, where Simone Senk from Fort Wayne defeated Julia Potter-Bob in the final match 2 up.

“This is my first women’s event that I’ve won and the first time I’ve ever played match play,” said Senk. “It was a super fun event and it was great to play against some really good players.”
