Henderson, Potter-Bobb, and Shepherd Lead After Round 2 of the 98th Indiana Women’s State Amateur Championship

Jun 11, 2020

Two-time USGA Champions, Julia Potter-Bobb and Erica Shepherd, sit atop the leaderboard along with Cailyn Henderson, University of Indianapolis, following round two of the 98th Indiana Women’s State Amateur Championship at Old Oakland Golf Club.

Potter-Bobb and Shepherd headed into today’s round tied for the lead with Annabelle Pancake, of Zionsville, after firing opening rounds of 2-under-par, 70.

Today, Potter-Bobb‘s round consisted of four birdies and two bogeys for another solid 2-under-par, 70 and a 36-hole total of 4-under-par, 140.

“For me, I’m strategizing my way around the golf course,” Potter-Bobb said. “I was able to do that yesterday, as well as today, so that’s my plan going forward. Just staying in my own game.”

Shepherd also posted a 70 today with three birdies and one bogey.

“It was nice to have that one-day IWGA event at Anderson Country Club,” said Shepherd. “I took some things away from that event and got really solid with the two days I had. I’ve hit it better the first couple days here than I have in a long time.”

Henderson, who carded a 1-over-par, 73 yesterday, bounced back with a tremendous 5-under-par, 67 today. Round two consisted of eight birdies and three bogeys, and Henderson heads to the final round also at 4-under-par, 140.

“Today I just wanted to come out and shoot a good score,” Henderson said. “I wanted to be better than I was yesterday. I worked on my putting before the match began, so my putter was definitely more on today which helped.”

Pancake carded a 4-over-par, 76 today and trails by six shots followed by Ball State University’s Liz Kim, who carded rounds of 73 and 75.

After today’s round the field was flighted based on scores.
