Kent Frandsen and Craig Schiebert
qualified for the US Senior Amateur Championship by leading the August 8th
qualifier at Harbour Trees GC. Frandsen was medalist with a 71. He put nine
straight pars together on the front and finished with a crucial birdie on the
18th to clinch a spot in the national field at Kinloch GC in September. The
birdie was important because two players – Schiebert and Dave Williamson,
finished with 72’s. Because this qualifier was allotted two spots, Schiebert
and Williamson headed back to the course for a playoff. Craig won on the second
playoff hole with a par.
