Four Indiana Amateurs Included in Global Golf Post’s All-Amateur Team

Dec 2, 2014

For the second year, Global Golf Post has compiled a list of the world’s best amateur golfers, and Indiana is proud to have four players included on this All-Amateur Team.

211 players from 23 nations were honored and selections were based largely on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.  The primary metric considered was the number of points accrued this year.

Kenny Cook of Noblesville, Ind. received top honors, as he was named to the Men’s Mid-Amateur First Team.  Cook competed in the 2014 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship, where he advanced to the round of 32.  He also added a win at the Harvey Penick Invitational and a runner-up finish at the Lupton Invitational to his 2014 list of accomplishments.

Julia Potter of Indianapolis, Ind. also received top honors, and was named to the Women’s Mid-Amatuer First Team.  Potter finished runner-up at the USGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship held at Harbour Trees GC in her home state of Indiana.  She also became one of only eight women from Indiana to ever win the Women’s Amateur Championship three times.  Potter’s victory at the State Am was made possible by her final round of 67, a new women’s course record set at Tippecanoe CC in Monticello, Ind.

Ron Carter (Monticello, Ind.) and Julie Carmichael (Indianapolis, Ind.) were named Honorable Mention amongst the world’s top male and female Senior Amateur Players.
