Foster Looks for First Section Win

Aug 18, 2014

Ivan Foster of Bridgewater GC was one of the only players to
put back-to-back low rounds together at Prairie View GC during day one of the
Indiana PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car. Foster posted a 3-under-par, 69 during round
one, followed by a 2-under-par, 70 this afternoon. He heads to the final round with a three shot
lead over Brian Brodell.

“I just played pretty consistently today,” Foster said. “I didn’t make many putts, but I hit the ball
solid and gave myself a lot of chances.
My goal is not only to qualify for the PNC, but also to win the event.”

Five players will qualify for the 48th PGA
Professional National Championship (PNC) which will be held June 28 – July 1,
2015 at Philadelphia Cricket Club.

“I have managed to keep my rounds free of big numbers
lately, and that has kept me in contention,” Foster said. “I have never won a Section event and it will
really mean a lot to me if I am able to do so tomorrow.”

Brodell is also in the hunt for his first Section win after
posting a 36-hole total of 3-under-par, 142.

“I played very steady today,” Brodell said. “I have always been a consistent player, but
I haven’t found myself in the winner’s circle yet. It would be an honor to win this event as
well as qualify for the PNC.”

In 2012, Brodell was just one stroke away from finishing in
the top 20 at the PNC, missing his opportunity to qualify for the PGA
Championship. With a win tomorrow,
Brodell would have a chance to qualify once again.

John Dalcorobbo of Brickyard Crossing GC, John Andrews,
the Head Golf Coach at IUPUI, and Fred Mattingly are currently tied for third at 1-under-par.
