Sep 14, 2009

The 2009 IWGA Player of the Year, Julia Potter of Granger, earned full exempt status on the LPGA development tour – the Duramed Futures Tour, for 2010. She competed against over 280 players from 15 countries and finished 24th after rounds of 75-74-72-73. Cracking the top 30 earned Potter her status. She plans to turn professional upon graduation from University of Missouri next May.

For the second consecutive season with Mizzou, Potter was named to the list of the Golf Digest Top 50 Females To Watch in the 2009-10 collegiate golf season. Last  year, Potter defended her title at the Missouri Johnie Imes Invitational with  a school record 7-under-par 209, had four top-5 finishes, and was named as an individual participant in the NCAA tournament last May. This summer, Potter won the Indiana Match Play tournament, and was runner-up in both the Pepsi Indiana Women’s Open and Indian State Amateur. In the final round of  team qualifying for her first fall tournament at Nebraska, Potter broke the team and course record at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia by shooting a 64. Potter carded an eagle and six birdies to set the mark.
