Indiana Professional Golf Association, MONTICELLO, IN (June 23) – Tippecanoe Country Club saw both heat and heroics today, as Eric Gessner captured the 2025 PGA Monticello Open title in dramatic fashion. With temperatures soaring to 93 degrees during a state-wide heat wave, players battled not only the leaderboard but the elements throughout the day.
This year’s event featured the largest field in recent memory — 30 more players than 2024 — making it the biggest Monticello Open in over five years. The strong field delivered low scores as 14 players finished under par, creating a very tight leaderboard.
For most of the afternoon, Payton Snoeberger held the clubhouse lead at 4-under, a mark matched late in the day by Craig Isabel, setting up a tense standoff atop the board. However, it was Eric Gessner who rose above the rest.
Gessner carded eight birdies during his round, including back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18, to surge into the outright lead at 5-under-par. With that final stretch, he sealed his place as the 2025 Monticello Open Champion, edging out a crowded field and holding off a late push from the leaders.
Despite challenging heat and intense competition, Gessner’s steady play and clutch finish delivered a thrilling close to a record-setting tournament.
