FORT WAYNE, IN (August 5-6) – The PGA Senior Professional Championship at Pine Valley Country Club concluded on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, after two hot days of competition. Amidst the heat, one player emerged head and shoulders above the rest. Dave Pugh secured the championship with a stellar performance, finishing at 11-under par.
Pugh’s scorecard over the 36 holes was nothing short of remarkable. He played a flawless, bogey-free round that included 8 birdies and 2 eagles. His consistent and aggressive play set him apart from his competitors, leading to a decisive victory.

The final round featured a competitive lead group consisting of Dave Pugh (-11), Craig Bowden (-6), and Jeff Marsh (-1). Bowden, who tallied 10 birdies over 36 holes, and Marsh, who rounded out the top three, could not catch up to Pugh’s commanding lead.
In a post-round interview, Pugh reflected on the significance of this victory:
“Well, I got beat four times last year in playoffs, so it’s finally nice to not be in a playoff,” Pugh said. “I was a little bit nervous, and I need that, especially if I’m going to go out to Oregon and compete. I need to get that under my belt, so it was good.”
When asked if he was aware of his standing throughout the day, Pugh responded, “I am a leaderboard watcher, but not crazy. So, I knew where I was, checking in throughout.”
Looking ahead, Pugh is now preparing for the upcoming national PGA Senior Professional Championship September 26-29, 2024 at Sunriver Resort in Oregon.
“I’ll take some time off and, hopefully, go out there and compete. To be honest with you, it’s a lifelong goal to get in the PGA Championship, so I’m gonna do what it takes,” Pugh added.
