Dave Pugh returned to the top of the leaderboard Tuesday, capturing his second Indiana PGA Senior Professional Championship in the last three years at Harrison Lake Country Club. Pugh finished at 2-under par, edging defending champion Gary Robison by one stroke to earn medalist honors and lead five Indiana PGA Professionals to the 2026 PGA Senior Professional Championship.
Pugh carded rounds of 68 and 72 to finish at 140, while Robison, the 2025 champion, mounted a final-round charge with a 2-under 70 to finish one shot back at 141. Mike O’Toole finished even par in third, while Bill Schumaker (+1) and Tim Frazier (+2) claimed the final qualifying positions for the national championship, set for October 22–25 at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club in Gold Canyon, Arizona.
The championship tested players from the opening tee shot. Hot temperatures and oppressive humidity greeted the field throughout Monday’s opening round before severe storms swept through Columbus overnight, leaving Harrison Lake Country Club with significant rainfall and debris. Course staff worked tirelessly to prepare the golf course Tuesday morning, but lingering conditions forced a two-hour delay before the final round began at 10 a.m.
Despite the changing conditions, Pugh remained steady throughout the championship. After taking a narrow lead into the final round, he consistently found fairways and greens while keeping a close eye on Robison as the defending champion attempted to chase him down.
“I knew where Roby (Gary Robison) was,” Pugh said. “I had a pretty good idea. I didn’t know exactly.”
Although the overnight rain softened the golf course, Pugh believed an under-par total would ultimately be enough to secure the title.
“I kind of thought if I got it under par for the tournament, I would be okay,” he said. “To be honest, I was pretty nervous all day, and finally decided to make a putt on 18. My ball striking was good all week,” Pugh said. “I absolutely flushed it all week. I think I only missed about four fairways and maybe four greens. That tells you how bad my putter was. I’ll go back and try to figure something out because I’m going to need a better one.”
Pugh, Robison, O’Toole, Schumaker and Frazier will now represent the Indiana PGA at the 2026 PGA Senior Professional Championship, October 22–25 at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club in Gold Canyon, Arizona, where they’ll compete against the nation’s top senior PGA Professionals for a chance to qualify for the 2027 Senior PGA Championship.
