This May, Kenny Cook of Noblesville won the Indiana PGA Southern Open in a playoff. Today, he grabbed the Northern Open title in a similar fashion. Cook defeated Dave Pugh of Mystic Hills on their second playoff hole, the par-4, 18th after making birdie.
“I’ve been able to play a decent amount this spring, and even though I felt like I left a little bit out there, I’m excited about the result,” Cook said.
Cook’s round at Pine Valley CC consisted of an eagle on the par-5, 15th, a birdie on the par-5, 4th and 16 pars. He only missed one green today.
“Anytime you can win an Indiana Golf event it’s special,” Cook said. “Winning the Northern and the Southern in the same year feels like a good accomplishment.”
Cook is a past IGA John K. David player of the year (2012). He is off to a fast start this season, currently in second in the points standings behind back-to-back player of the year, Sean Rowen of Greenwood.
