Carich Looks to Qualify for Third Senior PGA Professional National Championship

Aug 22, 2013

After qualifying for the PGA Professional National
Championship last week, Dave Carich of the Bridgewater Club looks to qualify
for his second National event of the season, the Senior PGA Professional
National Championship. Carich fired a
5-under-par 67 today at the opening round of the Indiana PGA Senior
Championship presented by Southworth at The Players Club in Yorktown. He currently has a two shot lead over home course Professional Perry Dotson and Quinn
Griffing of Donald Ross GC.

“I played really well and only missed one fairway today,”
Carich said. “Keeping the ball in play
all day was key. I also made two putts
for par on par 3s that really kept my round going.”

Carich’s round consisted of six birdies today coming on the
par 4, 1st, the par 4, 3rd, the par 5, 4th,
the par 4, 10th, the par 4, 12th, and the par 4, 16th. He only carded one bogey on the par 5, 2nd
hole.

“It would be fun to qualify for the National Championship,”
Carich said. “I’ve made it the past two
years and it would mean a lot to me to qualify again. But first things first, I have to play well
tomorrow.”

The top qualifiers will advance to The 2013 Senior PGA
Professional National Championship which will be held October 10-13, 2013 at
River Creek GC & Creighton Farms in Virginia.

Congratulations to Scott Morris who is currently in a tie
for seventh after firing an even par 72, with the help of an ace on the par 3, 13th
hole.
