Brodie Williams Fires 66 to Take Lead at IGA Public Links Championship

Jun 29, 2012

Seymour, Ind. – With blistering temperatures at the IGA Public Links Championship at Shadowood Golf Course, Brodie William’s six-under par 66 held at the top of the leader board.

“I just tried to focus on the speed of the greens today,” said Williams, a rising senior from Ball State. With undulation and crowned edges, distance control on the greens was imperative in order to shoot under par.
As the day progressed, players and caddies came in looking exhausted, but Williams was able to stay mentally tough.
Williams grew up playing a small 9-hole course and says he has come a long way. “A win would represent more than just myself,” said Williams. “It would be a win for my town and for Ball State.”
In a close second is Skip Runnels, who fired a 67 today. This is Runnels’s first Public Links Event, and at age 59 he is in a good position heading into tomorrow.
Jake Groninger, a player from IPFW is in third with a 68.
