Robison Leads After Round One at the PGA Senior Open
Indiana Professional Golf Association, COLUMBUS, IN (June 2) –
The sun was shining, the breeze was mild, and Round One of the 2025 Indiana PGA Senior Open got underway in near-perfect conditions on June 2 at Harrison Lake Country Club. With temperatures sitting comfortably at 75 degrees, players were greeted by a course in great shape — and one that rewarded precision.
Veteran PGA Professional Gary Robison made the most of the day, carding the only under-par round of the day with a steady 68 (-1). His round included four birdies, highlighted by an impressive stretch on holes 6, 7, and 8, where he rattled off three in a row to climb to the top of the leaderboard.
Close behind were Quinn Griffing and Dean Williams, who each finished the day at even par (71). Both players stayed consistent throughout the round, keeping themselves in striking distance heading into Tuesday’s final round.
A group of four players sat at T4 (+1), positioning themselves just three shots off the lead in what’s shaping up to be a tightly contested championship. With another warm and sunny day in the forecast for Round Two, low scores may be out there for the taking.

Brad Mays Comes From Behind to Capture the 2025 PGA Senior Open Title
Indiana Professional Golf Association, COLUMBUS, IN (June 3) –
The 2025 PGA Senior Open wrapped up Tuesday, June 3, at Harrison Lake Country Club, with a thrilling finish that saw Brad Mays emerge victorious from several groups back. With a final round that included an eagle on the opening hole and a clutch birdie on the last, Mays closed with six birdies total en route to claiming the title by two strokes.
After Round 1, all eyes were on Gary Robison, who held the solo lead at one under par, thanks to a brilliant stretch of three consecutive birdies on holes 6, 7, and 8. Trailing just behind were Quinn Griffin and Dean Williams at even par, with four others tied at one over.
But as the sun returned for another picture-perfect 75-degree day in Columbus, Mays was quietly climbing the leaderboard — one confident swing at a time.
“Well, just kept grinding it out,” Mays said after the round. “The golf course was extremely difficult, but I hung in there all day and bounced back a few times after a couple difficult holes.”
Despite not being in one of the final pairings, Mays started strong with an eagle on hole one, setting the tone early. He continued his steady play throughout the round, taking advantage of scoring opportunities where he could and managing trouble with composure.
“You know, I knew even par or a couple under today could really go a long way,” Mays said. “That wind picked up, and this is already a tough golf course. I just tried to stay patient and keep playing my game.”
His patience paid off. With the final groups scrambling to keep pace amid the pressure, Mays surged ahead, ultimately securing the win with a finishing birdie on the 18th — sealing a two-stroke victory and a well-earned PGA Senior Open title.
The PGA Senior Open has long been a staple for Indiana’s top senior professionals, offering not only a competitive playing field but a chance to reconnect with peers across the state.
