Bill Schumaker Wins 16th Player of the Year Title

Apr 30, 2014

After
finishing in a tie for 23rd at the 25th Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship,
Bill Schumaker of Crooked Lake GC surpassed Dave Carich of The Bridgewater Club
in the 2013 Indiana PGA Senior Player of the Year point standings.

Schumaker started off the 2013 tournament season
with a victory at The Sagamore GC in the first Indiana PGA Tournament series
event. He fired a 2-under-par 70, which
was enough for a two shot win over Brett Melton of the Country Club of Old
Vincennes.

Schumaker had eight top ten finishes during the 2013
tournament season, including a runner-up finish at the Indiana PGA Northern
Open at Briar Ridge CC, with an impressive round of 5-under-par 67. He also finished second in the Indiana PGA
Four Man Team, along with partners Sam Till Jr., Skip Runnels, and his son Mike.

Schumaker
was inducted into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame in ’91 and now claims his 16th
Indiana Section Player of the Year title, making him one of the most
accomplished players in the history of golf in Indiana. His ten senior championships are joined with
six wins in the regular division.
