Nick Bienz captured the 2026 Indiana PGA Assistant Professional Championship Tuesday at Holliday Farms, defeating Peyton Snoeberger in a sudden-death playoff after two days of outstanding championship golf.
The championship brought together many of Indiana’s assistant professionals, with not only the Indiana title on the line, but also two qualifying positions and four alternate spots into the 2026 Assistant PGA Professional Championship, which will be contested November 12-15 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Beautiful summer weather welcomed the field throughout the 36-hole championship, allowing Holliday Farms to provide an exceptional test of golf. The leaderboard remained tightly packed throughout the final round as Peyton Snoeberger, Michael Davan, Nick Bienz and Joey Wiseman all found themselves in contention entering the closing stretch.
Davan made one of the strongest runs of the afternoon before a costly double bogey on the 18th hole dropped him from championship contention. Moments later, Bienz delivered when the pressure was at its highest, rolling in birdie putts on both the 17th and 18th holes to climb into a share of the lead at 5-under par. Snoeberger answered with a steady par on the 18th to force a sudden-death playoff.
Despite finishing with back-to-back birdies, Bienz wasn’t convinced his score would be enough.
“To be honest, I really didn’t feel like I had a chance today until the last two holes,” Bienz said. “Even after I birdied 18, I didn’t think it was enough. I had no idea what was going on behind me.”

Only after walking off the 18th green did Bienz learn he had earned a share of the lead.
“It was kind of a relief,” he said. “Then it was, ‘Alright, better get ready for a playoff.'”
Returning to the opening hole, Bienz found the fairway and calmly made par. Snoeberger’s tee shot found out of bounds, and despite his efforts to recover, Bienz’s routine par was enough to secure the championship.
Bienz credited his ball striking and perseverance for keeping him in contention throughout the day.

“I struck the ball really well,” he said. “I missed a lot of makeable opportunities early on, but I just kept fighting. I made an eight-footer on 17 and about a 12-footer on 18 to get into the playoff.”
Joey Wiseman finished alone in third at 4-under par, while Davan claimed fourth at 3-under. Oliver Mast rounded out the top five at 1-under, as just four shots separated the top five finishers after two rounds.
Although Bienz claimed the Indiana championship, he has not yet completed the PGA membership requirements necessary to compete in the National Assistant PGA Professional Championship. As a result, Peyton Snoeberger and Joey Wiseman earned the Indiana Section’s two qualifying positions into the national championship this November in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Michael Davan, Oliver Mast, along with Meghan Musk and Austin Smith, will serve as alternates should additional spots become available.
