Age Group Championship Finishes Up

The Age Group Championship, one of Indiana’s largest junior events of the summer, took place the past couple of days at Swan Lake Resort’s Indiana National Golf Club. Golfers from the ages of 11-18 traveled from all over the state to Plymouth to compete. Competitors from the ages of 11-14 played the Silver Course, and the other competitors from the ages of 15-18 played the Black Course.
 
Despite some windy conditions at the course, many players went low. The first round of the tournament on Thursday ten players shot under-par rounds, and seven players did in the final round. 14-year-old Addison Kooi had the low round out of all the girl’s divisions after shooting a first-round score of 3-under-par, 69. Happy Gilmore and Brock Reschly had the lowest tournament rounds out of all the boy’s divisions with a four-under-par, 68s.
 
Boys and Girls 11-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Ben Divido won the Boys 11-year-old division after shooting rounds of 84, 80 to finish at 20-over-par for the tournament. Gabriel DeLuna was the runner-up of the division at 32-over-par for the tournament (94, 82), and Parker Bearden finished third at 40-over-par (114, 112).
 
Taylor Snively finished first in the Girls 11-year-old division after shooting round of 95, 90 to finish at 41-over-par for the tournament.
 
Boys and Girls 12-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Brycen Tisch finished first in the Boys 12-year-old division after shooting two even-par rounds of 72 to finish at even-par for the tournament. Tisch made an impressive number of seven birdies during the two-day tournament. Runner-up, and only one shot behind Tisch, was Elijah Lemmon, who finished at one-over-par for the tournament (73, 72). Mac Myers finished third with a score of six-over-par for the tournament (73, 77).
 
Piercey Dyer finished first in the Girls 12-year-old division after shooting rounds of 83, 76 to finish at 15-over-par for the tournament and win by four shots over Janelle Garcia, who finished at 19-over-par for the tournament (86, 77). Madelynn Headlee finished at third with a tournament score of 28-over-par (84, 88).
 
Boys and Girls 13-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Caden Baker ended up at the top of the Boys 13-year-old division after shooting a tournament score of one-over-par (71, 74). Baker was the only golfer in the division to shoot an under-par round. Only one shot behind Baker was runner-up Alex Holder, who finished at 2-over-par for the tournament (73, 73). Mattingly Upchurch and Micah Sheffer finished tied for third with tournament scores of 6-over-par.
 
Taylor Larkins was the champion of the Girls 13-year-old division with a tournament score of 13-over-par (80, 77). Larkins won by seven shots over runner-up Kelsey Haverluck, who shot a tournament score of 20-over-par (84, 80). Sophie Richmond finished third with a tournament score of 25-over-par (84, 85).
 
Boys and Girls 14-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Jake Cesare won the Boys 14-year-old division after shooting twin rounds of one-under-par, 71s, to finish at two-under-par for the tournament. Cesare shot an impressive bogey-free final round of one-under-par, 71. Two shots behind Cesare, was Will Harvey, who finished at even-par for the tournament (74, 70). Andrew Wall finished third with a tournament score of one-over-par (70, 75).
 
Addison Kooi won the Girl’s 14-year-old division after shooting the girl’s tournament low first round of 3-under-par, 69 and a 9-over-par, 81 second round to finish at 6-over-par for the tournament. Kooi defeated runner-up Claire Swathwood by five shots, who finished at 11-over-par for the tournament (80, 75). Ashley Kirkland finished third with a tournament total 16-over-par (79, 81).
 
Boys and Girls 15-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Happy Gilmore won the Boys 15-year-old division after shooting rounds of 74, 68 to finish at 2-under-par for the tournament. Happy’s 4-under-par was the low tournament round. Finishing seven shots behind was Keaton Parmley, who shot a tournament score of three-over-par (74, 73). Joe Peter finished third with a tournament score of 3-over-par (74, 75).
 
Kari Teglia finished on top of the Girls 15-year-old division after shooting a tournament score of 7-over-par (78, 73). Teglia went into the final round in third place, but the solid one-over-par, 73 final-round allowed her to end up on top. One shot behind Teglia was Scarlett Senk, who shot a tournament round of 8-over-par (74, 78). Delaney Wade finished third with a tournament score of 10-over-par (74, 78).
 
Boys and Girls 16-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Brock Reschly went into the final round of the tournament in eighth place after shooting a first-round score of 3-over-par, 75. Reschly had a fantastic come-back round, however, of 4-under-par, 68. The final round tied the low round out of all the boy’s divisions in the tournament and allowed Reschly to jump seven places and win by four shots over runner-ups William Pruitt and Matthew Shull. Pruitt and Shull shot tournament scores of 3-over-par.
 
Hailey Kirkland won the Girls 16-year-old division with a solid tournament score of one-over-par (72,73). Kirkland had an exciting first round of even-par, 72 with a hole-out on the par-4, 11th. Two shots behind Kirkland were Lydia Bauersfeld and Emma Weiler, who finished tied for second with tournament scores of 3-over-par.
 
 
Boys and Girls 17-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Maclean Dudasko went into the final round of the tournament in the lead, three shots ahead of Alex Hedrick, after shooting a one-under-par, 71. Hedrick, however, came back with a 2-under-par, 70 final-round, to finish at even-par for the tournament along with Dudasko and force a playoff. The four-hole playoff ended with Dudasko making a clutch three-foot putt to defeat Hedrick. Cameron GeRue finished third at four-over-par for the tournament after shooting an impressive two-under-par final round.
 
Going into the final round of the tournament for the Girls 17-year-old division, Christina Pfefferkorn and Cybil Stillson were tied for the lead after shooting rounds of one-under-par, 71s. The final round, however, Pfefferkorn was able to pull away from Stillson after shooting a solid round of one-over-par, 73 to finish at even-par for the tournament and defeat Stillson by three shots, who finished at three-over-par for the tournament. Becky Williams finished third with a tournament score of 10-over-par (80, 74).
 
Boys and Girls 18-Year-Old Divisions:
 
Cam Jones was the champion of the Boys 18-year-old division with a tournament score of two-over-par (72, 74). Jones defeated runner-up Patrick Michael by three shots, who finished at five-over-par for the tournament (70, 79). Brian Behrens finished third with a tournament score of 12-over-par (78, 78).
 
Ellie Beavins won the Girls 18-year-old division after shooting two steady rounds of even-par, 72s. Beavins defeated runner-up Teddi Bishop by six shots, who finished at 6-over-par for the tournament (75, 75). Madison Keil finished third one shot behind Bishop with a tournament score of seven-over-par (75, 76).
