“Given the overwhelming support we’ve received so far, we expect our tournament round tickets and Dye Club tickets to sell very quickly,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA senior vice president of tournaments. “The 2012 BMW Championship at Crooked Stick attracted more than 143,000 spectators, and we expect even greater attendance at this year’s event.”

In addition, the WGA is offering complimentary admission for all juniors and military members:

  • Juniors ages 16 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Juniors attending with a ticketed adult do not need a ticket and should proceed to the main gate for tournament entry. There is a limit of four juniors per adult.
  • To honor the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces, the BMW Championship is offering Active Duty, Retirees, Active Reserve and Veterans of any branch of service a complimentary ticket to the tournament. To receive complimentary access, military members should present a state issued ID (with veteran designation) at the Admissions and Will Call Office located outside the main entrance upon arrival at the tournament.

The BMW Championship is the penultimate event in the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs, with the top 70 PGA TOUR players competing for an $8.5 million purse, including $1.53 million for the winner. Former champions include Jason Day, Zach Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods.

All proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving caddies from modest means. Since 2007, the event has contributed more than $21 million to the Evans Scholars Foundation. The 2012 BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club raised nearly $3 million to help send caddies to college.

The 2012 BMW Championship, won by McIlroy, was named the PGA TOUR’s Tournament of the Year. Crooked Stick also has hosted the PGA Championship, U.S. Senior Open, Solheim Cup and other prestigious professional and amateur competitions.

About the BMW Championship
The BMW Championship dates back to 1899 when it debuted as the Western Open, making it the third-oldest tournament on the PGA TOUR schedule, behind only the British Open and U.S. Open. BMW has sponsored the tournament since 2007 when it became the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs.  The BMW Championship features a field of 70 players to determine the final 30 players for the FedExCup finale at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in Atlanta.

All net proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which grants full college scholarships to deserving young caddies. Since BMW became title sponsor in 2007, the tournament has contributed more than $21 million to the Evans Scholars Foundation.

About the Western Golf Association
The Western Golf Association conducts three national golf championships and sponsors the nationally acclaimed Evans Scholars Foundation. Headquartered in Golf, Illinois, the organization was founded in 1899 by 11 Chicago-area golf clubs to promote their interests in golf. In addition to the BMW Championship, the WGA conducts two prestigious amateur championships, the Western Amateur and the Western Junior.

About Evans Scholars Foundation
The WGA champions education through golf by supporting the Evans Scholars Program, the sole charitable beneficiary of the BMW Championship. Established by the WGA and famed amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr., the program provides full housing and tuition scholarships to deserving caddies across the country. This fall, 910 caddies are attending 19 major universities on Evans Scholarships, and there are more than 10,000 Evans Alumni.  The WGA’s Board of Governors has set a goal of having 1,000 Evans Scholars enrolled in college annually by 2020. The Evans Program is funded by contributions from more than 28,700 donors across the country, including many Evans Alumni, and by proceeds from the BMW Championship.
